On behalf of Rui Gomes, Head of Education and Training Division of the Directorate of Youth and Sport, we are happy to inform you about the launch of the call for applications to the Youth Peace Ambassadors Project.
The Youth Peace Ambassadors project promotes and supports young people in peace-building activities that contribute to living together in justice, dignity and dialogue. The project is the result of a need assessment made by European youth organisations, and builds upon the particular contribution and perspective that youth work and youth policy can bring to peace-building processes in Europe, especially through its preventive and educational nature. Central to the project are the concepts of peace and “deep security”, understood as a long-term and deep-rooted processes ensuring equality in dignity for all, fostering intercultural dialogue, and providing real access to and participation in the democratic process all over Europe.
Applications are welcome from all youth leaders coming from conflict-affected communities, such as as those experiencing or recovering from armed conflict, terrorism, frozen conflict, rise of racist discourse, nationalism and xenophobia, the escalation of hate speech and hate crime, discrimination and social exclusion, especially related to the Roma community, migrants and refugees.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday 28 February 2011.

BE LEADER ON YOUR GIFT - European project- financed by European Commission, via YiA
The project Be leader on your gift is a continuity of the summer project Together into the Jungle, Letonia august 2010, where the volunteers of IRSCA Gifted Education where trained to work with children on the concept outdoor education.
Be leader on your gift was held in Sinaia,Romania, 9- 10 october 2010.
Participants: 27 children 10- 13 years old from the project CID (www.giftededu.org) Subject: Understand and practice leadesrhip skills Objectives of the project: 1. Teambuilding 2. Principles of respecting the nature 3. Healthy food, nutrition
The activities of the participants names game, energizers, comfort zone, leadership theory, games for developing leadership skills, workshop on nutrition, Pijama Party, how to light a fire, how to build a tent, a trip to Peles Castel, and an interactive workshop with Liana Buzea - manager of the program LET'S DO IT ROMANIA (cleaning the country in one day).
Participants
- worked in teams applying team-work concept, - they understood what means healthy food and enjoyed during the project the organic products from www.bionatura.ro, - they started to be aweare about the process of learning and they practiced COMFORT ZONE in their learning experience in Sinaia, - they developed their basic knowledge about leadership
The program turned to be a real success, the participants gain the best of their timelife: good learning experience, lot of fun, many friends, more trust in themsleves, a huge list with games to play within their family or colleagues.

Context and outlook: Poverty and social exclusion is an instant problem in Europe. People can be excluded by the reason of social background, economical situation, learning difficulties, religion, race etc. We would like to take part in prevention of above mentioned problems in giving an opportunity to trainers and, youth workers to gain and exchange best practicies and develop their knowldge at the field of outdoor experiential learning. Experiential learning is a tool for approaching youngsters and develop their social skills. The program includes a great amount of adventure education and learning through experience, such as rock climbing, expedition into the wilderness, project management, problem solving activities and games.Workshops will be held in smaller intercultural working groups with the methodic of acting- experiencing and reflecting.

An outdoor experience Hungary, 20th - 28th September 2010 (9 days)
Participant countries: Hungary, Romania, Polonia.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the feeling of social responsibility and participation through the recognition and popularization of voluntary work.
Theme of the project: self experience (expedition, high ropes, low ropes, rock climbing); technical knowledge; supervision; experiential education theories.
The project uses the tools of experiential education, by actively involving
the participants it creates situations which are good to sense these positive
affects and get their own experience.
IRSCA participants were:

Bere Ioana – 22 years
"Make yourself useful" started on 20th of September at a scout center in Csobanka the 20 participants got to know each other in the great challenges that they had to face in those 9 days : Jacobs ladder, low ropes and a long expedition to Lajos Forras. They also had many opportunities of volunteering themselves : cooking, washing dishes, cleaning the floor and the windows, painting and many, many others. They had built a strong team that seems to last much more than 9 days.
Paul Ardeleanu relates about his experience: 20 – accommodation and icebreaker 21st – getting to know each other, building a team by facing one low ropes challenge 22nd – learning about EVS and doing the Jacobs ladder. We also prepared in teams for the expedition to the mountains (orientation team, food team, supply team) 23rd – A long, long expedition with a lot of Meglepetes ( surprises) on the road 24th – we went back to our scout center and reflect about what we did. 25th – we had a project of cleaning and decorating the scout center. we went to saint André. At the end of the day they had Polish cultural night 26th - Learning about rescue team with a demonstration of a rescue activity. we had Romanian cultural night 27th - Low ropes and closing session 28th – Exploring Budapest and going home
